STEAMx
METI participated as an exhibitor at the annual STEAMx, which is an event that hosts over 1,000 high school and middle school students in our region in order to increase awareness in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and careers.
Our interactive booth showcased the ecosystem management work that METI does worldwide and allowed students the opportunity to hold and observe Madagascar hissing cockroaches!
USFS Watershed Management Seminar
With support from METI, the annual USFS Watershed Management Seminar is hosting participants from over 20 different countries to include: Bangladesh, Belize, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nepal, Peru, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam.
The participants travel throughout Arizona, exploring water rights, municipal water treatment plants, reservoirs, ground-water wells, canals, and water-banking to help ensure a reliable and adequate supply of water for the future in their own communities.
Career Day
METI participated in a career day at Magoffin Middle School in El Paso, TX where the students were able to learn about some of the amazing work that we do worldwide!
Tarahumara Community
METI completed a school supply drive benefiting the Tarahumara community, which is an indigenous community in Mexico. A few of the items the children received included pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, notebooks, folders, highlighters, and rulers.
Our President/CEO, Renard U. Johnson, was able to personally present the materials to a few of the classes at the Escuela Primaria Indigena “Adelina Romero Fontes”
Sierra Leone
Getting ready for our site visit to our Sierra Leone office. Also taking this trip as an opportunity to donate some supplies to the beneficiary schools who are receiving water and sanitation infrastructure as part of METI’s ongoing working there.
